Many of our customers have expressed concern over the price increases they have seen in the last year in our products. I think it might be time to address these concerns in the hope that I can provide some understanding as to why this is happening.

First, let me say that we at Aim Projectiles have no wish to jack prices up out until they are out of reach for most people. We are trying to provide the best bullet for the price available in Canada, and over-pricing would only harm us in the long run.

We are however, subject to the ebbs and flows in the prices of base metals in the international marketplace, namely lead and copper. The prices of these materials has been steadily on the rise for well over a year, and costs have more than DOUBLED. We have no choice but to key our prices to these movements or we will quite simply be out of business. We tried to hold the line on pricing for as long as we could and in fact, at first were losing money on every box of bullets we sold.

While we can and do use reclaimed lead when available, the supply of this material is at best spotty. As well, there are substantial labour costs associated with cleaning/separating the metal from contaminants, disposing of these contaminants, re-alloying the metal and even just collecting it. So unless you are a hobbyist who casts a few bullets for personal use, there are not as many savings there as one might think.

Rest assured that we will continue to do everything we can to hold the line on pricing, but reserve the right to adjust prices without notice according to market pressures. This also means that if metal prices drop, you can expect a DOWNWARD adjustment on our prices as well.

In the meantime, we are continuing to develop and refine our product line in the hope that Aim Projectiles will be able to supply your needs for years to come. We hope 2010 will be a positive a fruitful year for all, and we'll see you at the ranges.

Thanks
Everyone at Aim Projectiles

Product Overview:
Welcome to Aim Projectiles. We have been in the lead business for 45 years (www.AlchemyExtrusions.com) and with the launch of our new bullet company, we are bringing these years of experience to the table. We are now in production on a brand new line of hard cast, copper plated bullets that we think you are going to love.

Unlike the typical swaged lead plated bullets you may be used to, our projectiles are cast and they are HARD. We alloy our lead with 6% antimony so they will stand up to the sharpest button rifling. The cores will not separate from their jackets or come apart at hi velocities and since they are sized before and after plating, they are dimensionally consistent for better accuracy.

Additionally, we are casting with a beveled base profile, which prevents the turbulence inducing build-up of plating material on the trailing edge of the bullet. We offer bullets in many weights and profiles in all of the major handgun calibers, and we are continuing to develop new products to meet the demands of our customers.

Comments from Rob Elliott - our Technical Advisor:

Rob Elliott; a 23 year veteran of International Practical Shooting competition is now using Aim Projectiles in his match ammunition.

“I am very particular about my equipment and my ammunition. There is nothing worse than loosing a major match because of unnecessary equipment malfunctions or poor accuracy. When I first met the folks at Aim, they solicited my input and welcomed my opinion as one who has tested many products over the years in the unforgiving crucible of international competition. This refreshing, open-minded approach to product development and production is indeed rare, but I am discovering that it is typical of the work ethic they bring to the table.

Having tested their bullets extensively I am indeed impressed by their performance, and considering my previous experience with plated bullets I wasn’t really expecting much. IPSC Open Division race guns push the design limits of any projectile to the maximum and this is especially true with plated bullets. At high velocities the copper material can often separate from the lead core as it exits the muzzle, leaving the shooter with minute-of-washtub accuracy at best.

As well, softer swaged cores can’t withstand the high velocity loadings typically needed for IPSC Open division guns and tend to deform as they pass through the bore. Knowing this I thought that at best I might be able to use these bullets as passable practice loads for indoor winter and close range shooting.

This didn’t turn out to be the case at all.

At 1400 feet per second these 9mm bullets are printing sub-2 inch 25 meter off-hand groups out of my Open Division match pistols. This is astounding performance from a plated projectile and it looks like I’ve found my new match load!”

Aim is a company committed to quality and customer service and we are determined to produce an accurate projectile that shooters can afford. It’s a quality product at a great price. Give them a try and see for yourself!

How to Order:

  • Aim Projectiles’ new pricing will be in effect as of August 17th, 2009.  The new price schedule reflects extra labor costs associated with double-striking all bullets and added costs incurred in adding an extra .001” of thickness to the copper plating.

  • Note that with the current shortages of loading components in North America and the prices of raw materials sky-rocketing, we are seeing prices for jacketed bullets climbing steadily. Aim is doing it’s best to hold prices at affordable levels.
